Two held for burglary

Thanjavur: Two persons were arrested in connection with a burglary in a farmer’s house near Thanjavur in July last.

According to police, Govindaraj of Pudhupatti near Thanjavur, and his family members were fast asleep when the two miscreants gained entry into his house and took away Rs. 80,000 cash from the almirah. They also snatched a three sovereign chain from Govindaraj’s before escaping.

Based on Govindaraj’s complaint, Thanjavur taluk police registered a case.

Upon investigation, police identified the two as Kattaiyan alias Mariyappan (55), resident of Kanniyammal Nagar near Thanjavur, and Raja (47), resident of Suriyanpatti near Thanjavur. Police arrested them and produced before the court, which remanded them to custody.
