The Ayudha Puja performed by the president of Hindu Makkal Katchi, Arjun Sampath, has created a controversy here, as he was seen sitting in front of some weapons, including sword and firearms during the puja.

Sampath himself had posted the photographs yesterday on Facebook. About six firearms, including rifles and pistol, sword and sickle were placed before the deity and he was seen sitting in front of it.

According to police, many have raised questions as to whether he possessed license for the fire arms. Some have even sought stringent action against Sampath.

Though Sampath was not immediately available for comments, sources close to him said that the post was withdrawn after some time.
