In a shocking incident, a 25-year-old man was shot dead in a moving government bus at Sattur in Virudhunagar district this morning. The victim has been identified as Karuppusamy of Kovilpatti. According to sources say, Karuppusamy was on his way to Madurai from his native. The bus was transporting commuters from Nagercoil to Coimbatore.

The incident took place following a heated argument between the victim and two others. One of them suddenly took out a gun and shot at Karuppusamy, killing him on the spot, sources added.

Hearing the gunshot, the driver tried to stop the bus. However the two managed to jump out of the bus and escaped.

Karuppusamy’s body was shifted to a government hospital for post-mortem. Initial inquiries say that, Karuppusamy and the two boarded the bus together. While one took a ticket to Thirumangalam, the other two were to alight at Madurai.

Police suspect previous enmity behind the killing. A case has been registered and a special team formed to nab the killers.

The other passengers continued their journey in another bus.
