Wedding and technology enthusiast building India’s largest one-stop shop wedding platform

We all agree that a day isn’t enough to celebrate us, Women. Afterall, ‘Our brilliance deserves more than a day’, So we thought of celebrating a women achiever much after the predictable Hullabaloo surrounding women’s day. She is someone who wants to transform and disrupt the way Indian weddings are planned in 21st century, using data, technology & deep-rooted consumer insights. She discovered her passion for building businesses at Brown University, when she co-founded the largest student-run business at the time, and graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna cum Laude. Sanna Vohra is the Founder and CEO of The Wedding Brigade, India’s largest and most trusted one-stop shop for weddings. Prior to starting The Wedding Brigade, Sanna previously worked at Morgan Stanley New York taking technology companies in the U.S. public, but realized she was much more interested in building technology businesses than in financing them. The emphasis on technology is huge, given how tech savvy our PM is, and the vision that he has of a digital India. Technology reflects the new India and it is in our benefit that we see technology as our friend rather than being sceptical about it. And Wedding Brigade talks about technology at the core of organising wedding.

The entire platform is based on an easy to use User Interface bringing together content, commerce & large scale bookings on one platform. They also look at consumer insight deeply and hold data driven insights to curate their content & commerce platform.Thus the algorithms governing the consumer experience are born out of data driven insights & market expertise,” says The Founder, Sanna Vohra. She adds, “While the product began as a web service it now has a fully functional app that enables these services along with multiple market first features for people who are not just planning a wedding but also attending it. The tech team along with enabling a great web/app experience for e-commerce, content consumption & bookings is also testing some great features in beta phase that would change the way weddings function in India.”

1.Millions of brides in India now start the planning and inspiration process online, on instagram, pinterest, and wedding portals to discover the most current trends.

2.Digital invitations through apps (like ours) which capture RSVPs and people’s addresses can save a family 20-30 hours of labour that are spent gathering addresses through phone calls and text messages.

3.97% of brides we polled said online vendor discovery on The Wedding Brigade saved them significant time when choosing vendors.

The idea for The Wedding Brigade began in January 2014 when she visited Mumbai on holiday and watched a friend struggle through planning her sister’s wedding. Despite the spend and scale of Indian weddings, she realized that the planning process was extremely inefficient, time-consuming, and confusing for the bride, groom and their families. After conversations with many people involved in the industry, she began to develop a solution that would become the building blocks of The Wedding Brigade. “The Wedding Brigade’s mission is to create India’s most-trusted wedding brand through curated and easy to access content, products and services. Users can browse wedding inspiration and read original content on our wedding blog, buy wedding-related products like clothing, costume jewelry, and gifts, and book wedding-related services such as venues, photographers, make-up artists and more. We deliver our products pan-India and have recently started international delivery,” says Sanna. Testifying the same, Preya,an e-commerce customer 2018 says, “The whole process of placing an order, giving my custom measurements and getting my lehenga was seamless and stress-free. I didn’t know it could be so easy to buy a lehenga on the web.”
