Jointly organised by the Rotary Club of Coimbatore Metropolis and Seek Sia, a social startup, the seminar aims to help the public, especially the younger generation, learn about the contributions made by Pallavas, Pandyas, Chalukyas and Rastrakutas during their rule between sixth and ninth centuries.

Briefing media persons here, S. Gurumurthy, Convener of the Seminar said 13 speakers from various parts of the country will speak on the dynasties and their contributions.

“Eminent scholars like Dr. U. Degulkar from Pune, M.S. Krishnamurthy from Mysuru, E. Shivanagi Reddy from Vijayawada, Chitra Madhavan and Dr. Venkataraman will cover various topics in their speech,” Gurumurthy said.

Other topics of discussion include Mahabalipuram built by Pallavas, Badami Caves and Pattadkal Temple by Chalukyas, Ellora and Elephanta caves by Rastrakutas and Kailasanathar temple in Kancheepuram.

Stating that a seminar on Cholas some five years ago was well received by the public, Swathi Rohit, Chairperson of Seek Sia, said these four dynasties ruled entire South India and contributed much to the development of the temple architecture and socio-economic growth of the country.
