2 teenagers rescue week-old infant from roadside

Coimbatore : Two teenage college students played good samaritans, when they rescued a week-old male baby lying on the road to the Government Hospital here.

Sathyadharan and Chandrasekhar, both aged 19, were walking on the Government Arts College Road in the city last night when they heard the sound of a baby crying.and noticed that it was wrapped in a cloth on the roadside, police said Friday,

They immediately alerted the ambulance service, which rushed to the spot and took the baby to the hospital in the vicinity

On inspection, the doctors found the baby was hardly seven days old. The infant was provided with breast milk by the hospital, they said.

The baby is in good health, hospital sources said even as the hospital and the police appreciated the prompt action of the students..

Police have registered a case and are in search of the woman who abandoned the newborn..
