At least 455 candidates were recruited by various private companies at the one-day job fair at Rajah Serfoji Government Arts College in Thanjavur today.
Organised by the Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihood Mission (TNSRLM), it was inaugurated by District Collector A Annadurai in the presence of P Mandrachalam, Project Director, District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), P J Revathi, Project Officer, Mahalir Thittam and Assistant Project Officer P Siva of Mahalir Thittam and several others.
Around 30 private companies including Visaka Builders and Promoters Private Limited, Chennai, Meenakshi Hospital, Zebra Pharmacy (P) Limited, MRF Limited, Perambalur Sangam Hotel, Quality Electricals India (P) Limited, Vision India, Thanjavur, Sri Lakshmi Hardwares and HDFC Insurance recruited candidates.
“There was an overwhelming response to the fair. Candidates with SSLC, Plus Two, ITI, diploma and degree certificates got their names registered. The candidates were recruited through personal interview,” Revathi said.
“A total of 3,234 eligible candidates, both men and women, from various parts of the district participated in the camp. Of them, 455 candidates were directly recruited by the companies on the spot,” she added.
At the end of the fair, Annadurai gave away the appointment orders and offer letters, on behalf of the companies to the candidates.
