In order to give quality treatment by creating a digitised system to track and manage patient records, PSG Hospitals on Friday released an exclusive application in Coimbatore.

The application, named Visionary Aadhaar Integrated Digitised Health Information Access (VAIDHIA), will help keep track of healthcare of the patient along with their adjuvants, such as pharmacies and laboratories.

“It also provides a means of validating healthcare professionals, thereby eliminating quackery. VAIDHIA allows sequential follow-up of a patient, irrespective of geography or the consulting physician,” said a release from PSG.

The release further added that with this system, the patient carries the privilege of deciding who has access to their health information and who does not. “It also prevents the dispensation of unauthorised medication by pharmacies,” the release said.

According to the design team, which comprises three medical college students and students of PSG College of Technology, the implementation of VAIDHIA will abolish the need for patients to carry all their past lab reports, CT scan films and discharge summaries. Healthcare professionals too will benefit as they are not required to carry detailed profile of patients’ medical history.
