Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Partners with TNJFU to Drive Innovation in the Fisheries Sector

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University (TNJFU) to address critical challenges in the fisheries sector through innovative technologies and sustainable solutions.

The MoU was formalized at TNJFU’s Vice Chancellor’s office in the presence of Dr. N. Felix, Vice Chancellor, TNJFU.
This strategic collaboration combines Amrita’s expertise in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and advanced analytics with TNJFU’s knowledge of fisheries science.

The partnership will focus on real-time monitoring of fish stocks, optimized aquaculture operations, waste reduction, and sustainable waste treatment technologies to enhance efficiency and resilience across the fisheries value chain.

Amrita’s team was represented by Cmde R. Ravi Sankar (Retd.), Additional Director – Academia Industry Partnership, Dr. K. Venkatasubramanian, Associate Professor & Chair (ECE), and Dr. C. Ganesh Kumar, Assistant Professor (ECE). Collaborative efforts with TNJFU, led by Dr. Cheryl Antony, Director of Research, and Dr. Jeya Shakila, Dean of FCRI Ponneri, have already identified key areas requiring immediate attention.

“This collaboration highlights our commitment to leveraging technology for societal benefit and sustainability,” said Cmde R. Ravi Sankar (Retd.).
The partnership envisions a sustainable and globally competitive fisheries sector through innovation and interdisciplinary research.
