Drawing inspiration from NGOs like Aatma Foundation, Aram Foundation, and My City Clean City, Arvind Shekar founded Vinmeengal Youth Foundation in September this year.

This NGO was started with the aim of helping other city-based NGOs with their social service activities. The NGO now has around 25 active members. “Since our inception, we have been lending a helping hand to the NGOs in the city to successfully carry out their charitable projects,” Arvind says.

Vinmeengal Youth Foundation supported NGO Tinkle Charity with volunteers for the latter’s fund-raising project to educate the girl child. When Aatma Foundation visited an orphanage home in the city, volunteers of Vinmeengal Youth Foundation were with them. Ever since Vinmeengal Youth Foundation was founded, its team of volunteers visits Helping Hearts orphanage home in the city almost everyday and take tuitions for the inmates.

Vinmeengal Youth Foundation has ambitious plans for the year ahead. Its founder tells us that members will pay a surprise visit to the homes of their well wishers and plant a sapling in their gardens. This project, we are told, will last for three months starting January 2016. Vinmeengal Youth Foundation plans to plant a tree each day through this project.

This foundation has also started a group on Whatsapp for blood donors. “As soon as we get to know that anyone is in need of blood, the required blood group and number of units are shared on our Whatsapp group. Information about the hospital or blood bank that requires the blood is also shared. Interested donors are guided to the hospitals,” Arvind says.

Currently, the members of this group are involved in collecting books from donors in order to set up a mobile library for the children of the orphanages in the city. They have managed to collect about 90 books so far. Their target is to collect at least 400 books. They intend to start this mobile library before this year end.

Vinmeengal Youth Foundation is open to donations in cash and kind. Those interested in joining the foundation can contact its founder at 995850-35814.
