About 70 workers of Bharat Sena were arrested today when they attempted to stage a rail rook protest in the Coimbatore station, demanding the immediate withdrawal of Article 370 which gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

Led by the state president, Senthilkannan and district organiser, S.R. Kumaresan, the workers raised slogans demanding the withdrawal of Article 370 and implementation of Uniform Civil Code in the country.

The members wanted stringent action be taken against those who were spreading terrorism under the pretext of preaching Islam. They also wanted the government to provide scholarships to Hindu students, like the ones given to Christian and Muslim students.

The protesters who were headed to the railway station to stage picketing on the track, were detained near the entrance this evening. They were released later.
