It looks as of the rains, which brought the much-needed break from the burning sun a few days ago, never happened at all, with the temperatures comfortably back to over 40 degrees.
Several districts in the state, including Chennai, Cuddalore, Vellore, Trichy, and Dharmapuri, recorded temperatures of 40 degrees and more in the past few days. The weather department however predicts that the heat wave could bring in more rains if the humidity increases from the current 55 percent.
Despite the heat, it had rained heavily in the northern districts in the state, like Salem, Nilgiris, and Namakkal, in the past 24 hours.
