Thanjavur: The Big Temple of Thanjavur witnessed some tense minutes with the police and the officials of the bomb squad conducting a thorough search that lasted for two hours, in and around the Brahideeswarar temple, following a bomb threat call. The call turned out to be a hoax.
The anonymous call at around 3.40 PM today to the Police Control Room in Chennai warned of a powerful bomb at the Thanjavur temple. The authorities immediately passed the information to the Thanjavur District Superintendent of Police.
Following the information, a special team, consisting of local police, armed reserve police and members of the bomb disposal unit, rushed to the temple and conducted a thorough search.
The hoax caller, meanwhile, turned out to be a drunkard.
