The PTC, in association with Dysmec Consultancy Services today set up a centre for excellence at KSR Engineering Institutions in Thiruchengode ‘to provide holistic education to students’. It is the first of its kind initiated under PTC excellence programme.
The programme aims to establish a laboratory with higher industrial standards and provide training for developing high quality skilled workforce with relevance to industry, said Sajith Parambil, director (academic-programme) of PTC.
The Rs. 25 crore facility would train students to develop high quality technical skills that would be relevant in the manufacturing sector. According to Parambil, PTC would provide full support by providing conten, curriculum, software and technology to enhance the learning experience of all the 2,400 students. The final year students would begin training from the coming academic session.
DCS’ chief advisor M. Rahul Naidu lamented that there was a huge ‘skill gap’ in the manufacturing sector in the country.
