Chain snatched from woman

In yet another incident of chain snatching, two unidentified men snatched a five sovereign gold chain from a woman and escaped here on Saturday.

According to police, the victim K Boopathy (50) reportedly runs a petty shop at Kondampatty in Kinathukidavu. On Saturday, two men came to the shop and asked for cigarettes; while she was taking the cigarette, the accused snatched the five sovereign gold chain she was wearing and escaped in two-wheelers. The worth of the chain is estimated to be Rs. 50,000.

In a similar incident, two men on two-wheelers snatched a four sovereign gold chain from Rose Mary (26) near Pattanam on Friday and escaped.

House robbed

Miscreants, who gained access to the house of S Ramachandran (65) in Teachers’ Colony in Sulur in the absence of inmates, robbed a gold chain worth six sovereign and Rs. 60,000 in cash. Separate cases have been registered and police are investigating.
