The city corporation Commissioner K. Vijayakarthikeyan on Wednesday visited the Dengue awareness and prevention campaign in ward 67 here. He inspected the activities in various parts in Ramanathapuram, including Neermaniyakarar Street, Narayanasamy Street, Krishnasamy Koil Street, and Santhanam Street in the ward 67.

Visiting each house in the area, Vijayakarthikeyan advised the residents to clear empty coconut shells, pots, tyres, and bottles from the area as they become the breeding grounds for the mosquitoes.

He also advised the public to use the cooking vessels only after cleaning them properly and added that stern action will be taken against those who do not obey. “Public should cooperate with the corporation in the eradication of dengue,” he said.

Corporation workers mixed Abate in the waters, and also cleared coconut shells and empty bottles in the area.
