Coimbatore : Opposing the handing over the contract for 24X7 drinking water supply to French firm Suez, members of CPI today staged a demonstration in the city.

Led by party state treasurer M Arumugam, the workers raised slogans against the corporation and administration. The workers also condemned the functioning of the corporation and its failure to repair the roads dug for underground drainage system in different localities.

The party also demanded appointment of sanitation workers based on the population across the wards in the city.
