Coimbatore : Outpatients in various government hospitals in Coimbatore and Tirupur districts were put to lot of hardship, as doctors resorted to boycott the works on Tuesday, seeking implementation of their long pending demands.

The demands include salary on par with Central Government doctors and periodical promotion, according to sources in Federation of All Government Doctors Association.

About 500 doctors in the Government hospital here and primary health centres in the district, boycotted treating outpatients, who were found waiting in long queues. Nearly 300 doctors in Tirupur abstained from work.

Trainee doctors attended to the outpatients, hospital sources said. Doctors in Mettupalayam and Pollachi hospitals and the ESI Hospital here, also boycotted the work.
