Domestic misunderstandings result in suicide

Two men from different parts of the district ended their lives here on Monday because of reported quarrels in the family.

According to the police, one of the deceased, V Ganesan (44) resided at Kurunji Nagar in Keeranatham along with his wife Shanthi (36) and two children. He had reportedly worn the religious garland in order to go on a pilgrimage to Sabarimala recently but had come home in an inebriated condition the previous night, which had angered his wife.

The couple had reportedly quarrelled over the incident and after Ganesan left the house, Shanthi had taken the kids and moved to a relative’s house. After returning, finding that his family had abandoned him Ganesan committed suicide by hanging.

In another incident, the deceased S Mohanraj (61), who resided with his wife and children at Kottamedu here, had repeated quarrels with his family members as he was a reportedly a habitual drinker. He had recently left his house and was staying as a tenant at Suleshwaranpatty in Pollachi for more than a month. Frustrated with his life, he consumed poison on Monday and succumbed at the Pollachi Government Hospital the same day.

Separate cases have been registered by the District Police and they are investigating.
