Farmers’ body to back AIADMK in TN by-elections

Coimbatore : Tamil Nadu Farmers Association (Apolitical) on Monday extended support the ruling AIADMK in the scheduled by-election to the 20 Assembly constituencies..

The support was based on the Government’s decision on Anamalai-Nallaru and Athikadavu-Avanashi water projects, lying pending for the last 50 years, association president NA Ponnusamy, told reporters here.

It would also extend its support to parties which supported the cause of toddy and allowed its tapping and sale in the State.

He also lauded the efforts of Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy to ensure relief materials reached to cyclone Gaja-affected areas.

The association demanded loan waiver and more compensation to Gaja-hit farmers.
