Foreign tourist robbed, guide assaulted in Ooty

Udhagamandalam: A drag-net has been spread for a gang comprising three persons which had allegedly assaulted a tourist guide and roughed-up a foreign tourist before depriving him of his bag containing money and other belongings.

Speaking to The Covai Post here on Wednesday,police sources said that the incident had taken place on Tuesday evening when the Slovenian tourist Jure.S Nok had gone along with the guide Vincent to a pine forest near Thalaikundah off the Ooty-Mysore highway.

Stating that the circumstances under which the incident had taken place were under investigation,the sources said search teams have been formed to nab the culprits.Based on the information collected a team has been sent to Yedakkara in Kerala.Combing operations are in progress in areas surrounding the Pine Forest.

While the guide who suffered multiple injuries is undergoing treatment in a hospital in Coimbatore,the tourist who had reportedly lost even his passport has been asked to remain in his hotel room here.
