Gang of robbers attack SI in Palani

Coimbatore: Perur Sub-Inspector Arumugham Nainar, who was part of special team that went to Palani, was attacked by robbers when they were being chased on Monday.
Arumugham sustained severe injuries as he was attacked with a sickle by a gang of robbers. He was taken to the hospital in Palani and later shifted to a private hospital in Coimbatore.
The special team, however, managed to arrest two of the offenders. The accused are Ashik Ahamed from Karamadai and Vignesh from Madurai, both 25 years old.

The same gang had robbed gold chains and mobile phones from a businessman, Geno Thomas, from Thrissur in Kerala. This incident took place near KG Chavady when Thomas was travelling with his family last week.
