The government should give necessary relief funds to the flood-affected people in the state immediately, Tamil Manila Congress senior leader S.R. Balasubramanian demanded on Wednesday.

Talking to the reporters here in Coimbatore, Balasubramanian said that the government should also provide necessary relief funds to farmers whose lands are affected. “The monsoon rains have largely affected various parts of Tamil Nadu. Districts like Chennai and Cuddalore have been completely stranded because of floods,” he said.

He added that the state government should analyze the damages in various districts and distribute the necessary funds. “Farmers should also be compensated for the loss,” he added. He also pointed out that the central government should assist the state government in the flood relief activities.

Condemning the hike in the prices of petrol and diesel, Balasubramanian said that the prices should be brought down immediately as it would result in the price hike of essential commodities too.
