Coimbatore : Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit will be the chief guest at the grand finale of the Isha Gramotsavam, a 50-day national level rural sport event, to be conducted at Erode on December 9.
A major attraction would be a kabaddi between Tamil Thalaivas and winning National team, in the presence of Olympics medalist Karnam Malleswari.
The Isha Gramotsavam is a celebration of village life showcasing the essence of rural Tamil Nadu through an elaborate display of rural games, art, drama, dance, and music.
The festival is part of Action for Rural Rejuvenation (ARR), a rural revitalisation programme under the aegis of Isha Foundation, a statement said.
The 14th gramotsavam commenced on October 20 and more than 40,000 players representing 3,500 teams, from rural areas of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry had been participating in various sports.
Tamil Nadu Ministers KA Sengottaiyan, P Thangamani, SP Velumani and KC Karupannan would distribute prizes in the presence of Isha Foundation for Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev.
