According to astrology, Guru (Jupiter) moved from Leo to Virgo (Kanni rasi) today. A large number of people were seen waiting in long queues since morning to have a darshan of the Lord. Special abhishekams, pujas, and artis were performed to Guru Bhagwan at the time of transit.

According to the temple authorities, Laksharchanai would be performed on August 8 and pariharams from August 15 to 17. Those who are born in Mesham, Mithunam, Kadagam, Kanni, Thulam, Dhanusu, Kumba rashis should do pariharams.

The presiding deity of the temple is Swayambootheswarar and Goddess Ulaganayaki. As the main deity is a Swayambu Lingam, he got the name ‘Swayambootheswarar’. The main deity is called Vasishteswarar as he was worshiped here by Saint Vasishtar.
