A motivational and insightful COMPASS session was organized at Dr. GRD School of Commerce and International Business, Dr.GRD College of Science. The event, held at R.D. Hall, featured Mrs. Sasirekha Vengatesh, a Chartered Accountant currently serving in the Defence Information Systems Agency (DISA), as the guest speaker.

Mrs.Vengatesh, known for her contributions to academic sessions across various institutions, emphasized the importance of physical and psychological well-being among students, who she described as the “pillars of future India.”

The session began with an engaging mind game, where students enthusiastically participated in an activity designed to demonstrate how the mind adapts to routine practices. Through a group exercise, she illustrated how our thoughts and habits shape our decision-making processes, reinforcing the concept of mind mapping.

A key takeaway from her talk was the contrast between a weak and strong mind. She highlighted how a single negative remark can overshadow multiple positive ones, stressing that people often dwell on criticism while disregarding praise. She encouraged students to focus on positive memories rather than regrets from the past, as this shift in mindset fosters happiness and better decision-making.

Mrs. Vengatesh also pointed out the importance of smiling, noting that while a baby smiles 400 times a day, adults rarely do. She urged students to embrace practices like meditation, yoga, and positive thinking to cultivate happiness and maintain energy levels.

The session concluded with a five-minute guided meditation exercise, which left students feeling refreshed. Mrs. Vengatesh emphasized that just 20 minutes of meditation can be equivalent to five hours of rest, enhancing focus and productivity throughout the day.

Her message on self-discipline, confident decision-making, and the power of a positive mindset resonated deeply with the students, making the COMPASS session a memorable and transformative experience.

The event organised by Dr.K.K.RAMACHANDRAN, Vice Principal, Director GRD School of Commerce and International Business.
