The 23rd Karunya-Evangeline Memorial South India level Intercollegiate sports Tournament (KEMT-2015) is all set to begin at Karunya University, Coimbatore, on September 24. 403 teams from 165 universities and colleges of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Kerala will compete in the four-day tournament.
P. Sivanandi, Chief Vigilance Officer of the State Transport Corporation, Tirunelveli, will inaugurate the tournament in the presence of the university’s Chancellor Dr. Paul Dhinakaran.
Except football and hockey, the rest of the events will be held in the evenings, under floodlights. Football and hockey will be held only for men students. Other events, like volleyball, basketball and Kabbadi, will be held for men and women students. This year, ball-badminton will be introduced for the first time in the tournament.
