KOVAI SAHODAYA SCHOOLS COMPLEX TO HOST 10TH ANNUAL ATHLETIC MEET AT NEHRU STADIUM

Coimbatore :The Kovai Sahodaya Schools Complex (KSSC) hosted its 10th Annual Athletic Meet – 2026 at the prestigious Nehru Stadium, Coimbatore, from August 17 to 19, 2026.
The three-day sporting has brought together more than 40 schools from across Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode and Karur districts, providing a vibrant platform for young athletes to showcase their sporting talent, discipline and competitive spirit.

The inaugural ceremony of the Athletic Meet held on August 17 at 8.00 a.m. in Nehru Stadium. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr. N. Kannan, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore City*.

The inaugural ceremony will also feature the ceremonial hoisting of the flags. The National Flag*was hoisted by the Chief Guest, *Dr. N. Kannan, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore City. The Olympic Flag hoisted by Dr.Kavidasan Secretary Sachidananda Kallar . MrMahesh Narayanan*, Principal of PA International School and Vice President, KSSC, hoisted the Kovai Sahodaya Schools Complex Flag
The meet will witness a wide range of track and field events across different age categories. Competitions will be conducted in the Under-12, Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 categories, providing young athletes from participating schools an opportunity to compete, showcase their talent and strive for excellence. The Kiddies Meet for children in the age group of 6 to 10 years will also be conducted as part of the three-day sporting celebration.
The participating young athletes from various schools across the region are expected to demonstrate their speed, strength, endurance, agility and sportsmanship throughout the three-day event. The meet aims to encourage healthy competition while nurturing discipline, teamwork, perseverance and excellence among students.

The event is organised under the leadership of the Kovai Sahodaya Schools Complex office bearers. Mr. Girish Eswaran, President, KSSC and Principal of PSG Public Schools, will lead the organisation as President.

Mr. Mahesh Narayanan, Vice President, KSSC and Principal of PA International School, will also be part of the leadership team.

Mr. S. Padmanaban, Secretary, KSSC and Principal of Vivekanandha Academy, will coordinate the proceedings along with the other office bearers. Mrs. Uma Maheshwari, Treasurer, KSSC and Principal of SJN School, Kallar, and Mrs. Eileen Jethro, Joint Secretary, EB member Ms.Smitha Princiial CS Academy and Ms.Deepavathi Principal Kids Club of KSSC, played key roles in the conduct of the meet.

Adding to the grandeur of the inaugural ceremony, the students of Vivekanandha Academy will lead the VIP Call and ceremonial welcome. The band performance will also be presented by the talented students of Vivekanandha Academy.

The March Past will feature contingents representing the Armed Forces, with SSM Central School representing the Army, SJN School, Kallar representing the Air Force, and Stanes School CBSE representing the Navy, adding grandeur and patriotic spirit to the sporting celebration.

The Olympic Torch will be carried with pride by accomplished young athletes selected from various schools under the Kovai Sahodaya Schools Complex. These torchbearers, who have excelled in various athletic meets and sporting events and brought laurels to their respective schools, will carry the flame as a symbol of their achievement, perseverance, sportsmanship and sporting excellence.

The event will feature the traditional sporting elements of an athletic meet, including the National Flag, Olympic Flag and Sahodaya Flag ceremonies, March Past, band performance and the Lighting of the Olympic Torch, symbolising the values of unity, determination, fair play and sporting excellence.

The KSSC Athletic Meet is expected to provide an enriching competitive experience for hundreds of young athletes while bringing together schools, teachers, coaches and sports enthusiasts from across the region.

With athletes ready to compete and the sporting arena prepared to come alive with energy and enthusiasm, the 10th Annual Athletic Meet of the Kovai Sahodaya Schools Complex promises three days of spirited competition and a grand celebration of sporting excellence, sportsmanship and unity.
