A leopard was found electrocuted while attempting to catch an already electrocuted peacock, near Anamalai in Pollachi today.

According to forest sources, the incident might have occurred when the leopard attempted to take the peacock, which was hanging dead on a power line near Perumal Swami Karadu (temple). The officials have noticed scratch marks of leopard on the electric pole, while climbing to catch the peacock.

Both the peacock and leopard might have died two days ago, as foul smell was emanating from the carcasses at the Anamalai Tiger Reserve.
