Normal rail, road traffic resumes on Madukkarai Road

Normal rail and road traffic resumed today on the Madukkarai-Palakkad Road, as the replacement of girders at the road under-bridge was completed.

Trains were delayed and road traffic was diverted yesterday while the steel girders at the bridge at the Madukkarai Railway Station yard on the city outskirts were being replaced by the Palakkad Division of Southern Railway.

The works have been completed ahead of schedule as the fourth and fifth concrete slabs have also been placed, completing the entire replacement of steel girders of the bridge.

Consequently, normal rail and road traffic resumed today.
