The district administration on Thursday conducted a monsoon preparation review meeting to analyze the preventive measures taken by the authorities to avert inconvenience during the rains.
With the Tamil Nadu Meteorological department warning that Coimbatore could receive heavy rainfall in the next two days, Harmandar Singh, Principal Secretary to the State Government for Handlooms and Textiles, said that the district administration is well prepared for the monsoon. “There is a 24 hours special free helpline (1077) for people during floods and workers are working on a rotation basis to handle any crisis,” he said.
He further stated that all government departments, including Public Works Department, Highways, Fire Service, Electricity Board, and the Police, along with the district administration, have been advised by the state government to be on the vigil during the monsoon.
District Collector Archana Patnaik, Superintendent of Police Ramya Bharathi, Deputy Commissioner (L& O and Crime(incharge) Nisha Parthiban, and District Revenue Officer T. Christiraj were among those present at the meeting.
