Over Rs 4 crore seized from 2 vehicles

Coimbatore : The election flying squad Saturday seized Rs 3.8 crore from a car at Karanampet in Tirupur District.

Though the occupants claimed that the cash was taken to be deposited in an ATM, there were no proper documents to support their claim, police said.

In a similar case, Rs 56 lakh were seized from another vehicle near Sulur on the city’s outskirts during a vehicle check by a flying squad.

In both the cases, the money would be released on production of valid documents, police said.

In another incident, textile articles, like garments worth Rs 30 lakh were seized from a van near Somanur in the district.

During a search of the vehicle, the officials recovered the articles, kept in between the bundles of grey gada clothes, police said.

As there were no accompanying documents, the textile items were seized.
