Permission sought to operate hosiery-related goods carrying vehicles during peak hours

Coimbatore : Various asscociations in the knitwear hub of Tirupur today sought the police department to permit hosiery related goods carrying vehicles to operate during peak hours also.

In a statement on behalf of the associations,Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA) General Secretary, T K Vijayakumar said that as yarn, fabric or other hosiery items carrying vehicles other than heavy truck and lorries are stopped during peak hours (8 AM to 10 AM) inside Tirupur city.

Various associations, including TEA, Dyers Association of Tirupur, submitted a joint memorandum in the Tirupur Police Commissionerate seeking not to stop the vehicles other than heavy truck and lorries during peak hours also .

It was mentioned that the entire operation of production was not taking place in a single location and the transportation was taking place in each stages of production, at least minimum four to five places.

Being exporting units, it have to apparently follow the time bound production and keep up the delivery schedule mainly to sustain and retain the foreign buyers and the cause of concern was that the units were not having any cushion period to stretch the production and any deviation in it will totally affect the production planning and control, the memorandum said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, A Kayalvizhi has assured to address the concerned issue, Vijayakumar said.
