K.S.G. College of Arts and Science celebrated the birth anniversary of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam by launching a tree planting programme in the city.

This was a tree planting programme with a difference. Saplings were planted in 25 kg jute gunny bags. The bags were filled with earthworm manure. “We were told that the saplings will be raised in the gunny sacks for two years. After two years, the saplings will be planted in specially prepared pits during the monsoon. The programme was approved by botanical experts”, the students said.

About 100 saplings were planted in this manner. Close to 100 students of the college and those from the National Service Scheme (NSS) participated in the programme. K.S. Geetha, the Correspondent of the college, inaugurated the celebrations. College Principal V. Selvarajan, and Mrinalini R. David also participated in the ambitious programme.
