Coimbatore : Union minister of State for Finance Pon Radhakrishnan on Tuesday accepted the challenge thrown by MDMK general secretary, Vaiko to show black flags to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whenever he visited Tamil Nadu.

Modi would definitely visit Tamil Nadu and was ready to face any sort of agitation, including waving black flag. I accept the challenge,” Radhakrishnan told reporters at the airport here.

Coming down heavily on Vaiko, Radhakrishnan said he had come out of DMK accusing it of conspiracy and vowed to take revenge on the party, but was now showering praises and wanted to make its leader the Chief Minister.

This shift in Vaiko’s stand had put a question mark on his honesty among the people in the State, he alleged.

The threat to show black flag to Modi was nothing but to “please someone and get political favour”, he said adding that he was ready to accept the challenge, even as it had not gone well with Vaiko’s own party men.

The MDMK wanted to remain in the DMK front, Radhakrishnan said, adding that many in the DMK members were not taking Vaiko and saw him as an “unwanted guest”.

On Mekedatu, Radhakrishnan said that the Environment Ministry has given orders only to prepare a project report. He expressed confidence that if it affected Tamil Nadu, the report would not be accepted.

About relief measures to Gaja-affected areas in the State, he said additional funds would be decided after receiving the report from the company which visited the areas.
