PSG College of Nursing marks 31 years of excellence and empowerment

PSG College of Nursing commemorated its Foundation Day on Friday, 7th November 2025, marking 31 years since its founding fathers turned their inspiring vision into reality through dedication and perseverance. This special occasion served not only to recall the institution’s beginning but also to celebrate its remarkable progression and achievements over the decades.

The event opened with a formal welcome from Principal Dr. Jeyadeepa R. Our Managing Trustee, Shri L. Gopalakrishnan, of PSG & Sons’ Charities presided over the function and highlighted the remarkable contributions of PSG Institutions in the field of healthcare and nursing education. Shri G.R. Karthikeyan, Founder Trustee and Chairman also graced this occasion.

The celebration honored distinguished alumni who have made significant contributions in their field of nursing. Dr. Senthilkumar T (UG-1994 Batch), Professor-cum-Principal at Lourde College of Nursing, Kannur, Kerala, Dr. Meena Putturaj (UG-2004 Batch), Assistant Professor and DBT/Wellcome Trust Indian Alliance Fellow at the Institute of Public Health, Bengaluru, and Mrs. Joshi Prabhu (UG-2004 Batch), Lecturer at the School of Health and Society, University of Salford, Manchester, UK were recognized for their achievements. During their response, they shared the nostalgic memories of their time at PSG and emphasized the importance of the institution’s philosophy of imparting education that goes beyond just preparing students for jobs. They credited PSG for instilling courage, confidence, and critical thinking skills that enabled them to pursue unconventional paths, including research. The alumni expressed gratitude to their families and mentors, and offered words of encouragement to future nurses, using analogies from nature to convey their message.

The gathering was addressed by the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. S. Ani Grace Kalaimathi, Registrar of the Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council, Chennai. In her speech, she appreciated our distinguished alumni for their contributions in the field of nursing education, practice and research. She also highlighted the challenges laid upon the nursing profession, and the need for the educators to learn, un learn and relearn. Madam stressed the importance of 5 guiding principles to be followed by every nurse practicing the profession. Madam congratulated the PSG Management, and College of Nursing for cultivating human values into the minds of the nursing students long before which was portrayed through the words of the distinguished alumni.

During the ceremony Alumni Magazine-2025 was released and PSG College of nursing website was launched by chief guest.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Vice Principal Prof. Meera S, expressing gratitude to all attendees and contributors.
The event brought together faculty, students, and alumni to celebrate the institution’s journey of excellence, commitment, and leadership in nursing education and healthcare service.
