PSGR Krishnammal College for women Conclave on Youth and Climate Jointly Organized by PSGRKCW , Siruthuli and Poovulagin Nanbargal

A one – day Conclave on Youth and Climate was jointly organized by PSGR Krishnammal College for Women , Siruthuli and Poovulagin Nanbargal on January 20 , 2024 in PSRGKCW campus . The event underscored the urgency of addressing climate change , a complex global challenge fueled by various human activities contributing to greenhouse gas emissions.

Climate change poses a major threat to humanity , demanding comprehensive solutions.Underlining this and advocating a holistic approach,the conclave on Youth an Climate emphasized reducing fossil fuel usage,conserving forests, adopting sustainable industrial and agricultural practices,and promoting meaningful youth involvement in decision – making for creating sustainable communities.

Recognizing the pivotal role of the youth in combating climate change,the event highlighted their energy, passion , and commitment as crucial elements for building a sustainable and resilient future.The conclave aimed to raise awareness and instill social responsibility in the younger generation.Eminent personalities such as environmental activist Mr. Randhir Sahgal,Founder,Sanctuary Nature Foundation,Mumbai and Dr.Rajendra Singh, Founder,Tarun Bharat Sangh,Rajasthan , shared their insights, guiding the youth toward environmental stewardship.

Distinguished speakers, including Prof. S Janakarajan,Ms.Kavitha Muralidharan and Mr.J Sathish, highlighted the youth’s vital role in environmental protection and proposed innovative solutions.

The conclave culminated in a valedictory address by Shri K Shanmuga Sundaram , reflecting on the Government of India’s initiatives and emphasizing the need to empower youth.He stressed on conducting comprehensive studies to gauge youth awareness of climate change and their role in combating it.Encouraging entrepreneurial ventures focused on sustainability and eco friendly services,he envisioned a future with green spaces and environmentally conscious infrastructure.

With around 300 students from various colleges in and around Coimbatore participating , the Youth & Climate Conclave at PSGR Krishnammal College for Women proved to be a resounding success . Dr.R.Nandini ,Chairperson , welcomed the gathering , and Dr. P.Meena , Principal , extended gratitude. The conclave left a lasting impact on the empowered young minds , inspiring them to be agents of change for a brighter , more sustainable future .
