Rs. 4.5 lakh compensation distributed to Dalits

District Collector A Annadurai distributed compensation to the tune of Rs 4.50 lakh to 20 Dalits who were affected by atrocities in the district.

The Collector distributed the compensation of Rs. 22,5000 each to 10 persons, Rs 15,000 each to nine persons and Rs 90,000 to one person, on behalf of the Adi Dravidar Welfare Department. He gave away the cheques during the public grievance redressal day programme at the collectorate today.

At least 375 petitions were received from the public seeking free house site pattas, old age pension, family cards and educational loans. The Collector directed the officials concerned to take action on the petitions and inform the petitioners the status of their petitions.
