Chennai: Chaos prevailed this morning at Gate No.4 of the Fort St. George, which houses the Assembly-Secretariat complex, when the suspended DMK MLAs staged a protest.

Led by the Opposition Leader MK Stalin, the legislators tried to forcibly enter the Assembly premises, but were prevented by the security personnel, who closed the gate. Heated argument and a stampede-like situation prevailed. Worsening the chaos were the reporters and camera persons.

The angry DMK legislators sat outside Gate 4 and raised slogans against the AIADMK government. Speaking to the media, Stalin said that the Assembly proceedings must be aired live, so that people can know what is happening inside. He added that the DMK was keen on performing its ‘democratic duties.’

Meanwhile, in the Assembly hall, seven out of the nine DMK members who were not suspended yesterday, since they were absent, took part in the proceedings. They, along with the Congress and IUML MLAs, demanded the Speaker to withdraw the suspension order. But the Speaker replied that the issue could be taken up for discussion after the end of the question hour. Protesting this, the MLAs of DMK, Congress, and IUML, walked out.
