Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore (SKCET) is hosting the grand finale of smart India Hackathon 2025 (Software Edition) on 8th and 9th of December.

This year marks the 6th edition in which Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology has been entrusted with organising this prestigious National innovation event.

S.Malarvizhi,Chairperson and Managing Trustee of Sri Krishna Institutions, Coimbatore presided over the inaugural ceremony. K.V. Karthik, President of Indian Pump Manufacturers Association (IPMA) and the MD of Deccan Industries, Coimbatore took part as the Chief Guest of this event.

While welcoming the gathering, Principal of the college Dr.K.Porkumaran said that the grand finale is witnessing 20 teams comprising of 108 students from different Indian institutions take on 4 challenging problem statements from the Ministry of Jal Shakti.

It is noteworthy to state that 4 teams from the SKCET qualified for the Grand Finale, demonstrating outstanding technical proficiency, creativity, and problem-solving capabilities.

Speaking at the inauguration, KV Karthik, the Chief Guest said that the problem statements from Ministry of Jal Sakthi are core to India’s water security mission.

“Your solutions in this hackathon will greatly improve our way of life and also show the way for progress towards Viksit Bharat 2047,” he said.

“This hackathon is not merely a competition but a responsibility and a national building exercise. Viksit Bharat 2047 envisions and nation where every home receives safe and reliable drinking water round the clock. o achieve this mission we must design and deploy water infrastructure that is modern resilient and sustainable which is the role of every engineer present over here,” he added.

Hon’ble Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with the contestants virtually. S.Malarvizhi, the Managing Trustee of Sri Krishna Institutions visited the workstation of the contestants and congratulated them on making it to the finals.

Other dignitaries present in the event include Dr. K. Sundararaman, CEO, Sri Krishna Institutions; Garima Rohela, Director & CVO, AICTE – MIC, New Delhi; Yogesh Wadhawan, Nodal Centre Head, Senior Accounts Officer, AICTE MIC, Ministry of Education, New Delhi, and Parag Kulkarni, Vice President of Engineering, Randstad Enterprise, Pune; Jury members, Mentors, and Industry experts.

The Deans, Heads of Departments and faculty members of SKCET joined hands to successfully organize this grand finale, ensuring a spectacular and memorable experience for all participants.
