Coimbatore, Dec. 16 : Dr. Balamurugan, Senior Diabetologist and Founder and Chairman of Kovai Diabetes Speciality Center and Hospital, Ramnagar, Coimbatore, has been honoured with the Indian Medical Association Tamil Nadu State Award for his exemplary contribution to diabetes awareness and patient care across the State.
The award was presented at TIMACON, the 80th Tamil Nadu State Conference of the Indian Medical Association, held in Karaikudi. The recognition was given for his long-standing commitment to public education, preventive healthcare and the promotion of scientific diabetes management practices.
The award was conferred by Dr. Senguttuvan, President of the Indian Medical Association Tamil Nadu State Branch, and Dr. Karthik Prabhu, State Secretary, in the presence of senior medical professionals from across Tamil Nadu.
Dr. Balamurugan has conducted more than 1,000 diabetes awareness and screening medical camps in urban and rural areas, helping in early detection and prevention of complications related to diabetes. Through these initiatives, thousands of patients have benefited from timely medical advice, lifestyle guidance and access to quality care.
He currently serves as Joint Secretary of the Indian Medical Association, Coimbatore Branch, and is also Chairman of the IMA Tamil Nadu State Diabetes Awareness Committee, where he actively designs and implements statewide outreach programmes.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Balamurugan is actively involved in academic research. Recently, he participated in a diabetes research seminar and presented a paper on modern and advanced treatment methods in diabetes care.
A few months ago, he was also honoured with the Golden Doctor Award, further underscoring his dedication to medical excellence and service to society.
