Tight security cover thrown at Perumanallur for PM’s visit

Coimbatore : Perumanallur in Tirupur district, some 55 KMs from here is brought under tight security cover for the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 10.

During his visit, Modi will lay foundation stone for an 100-bedded ESIC Hospital and other welfare schemes, in the company of Tamil Nadu Governor, Banwarilal Purohit, chief minister, Edapadi K Palanisamy and State ministers.

Two platforms are being erected–one for the Government function and another to address the party workers from this, Tirupur, Erode, Salem, Karur, Namakkal, and Nilgiris districts, who will be accommodated at one side of sprawling over 70 acres of land, police sources said.

The works for helipads are also in progress to facilitate the landing of helicopter carrying Modi from Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh and over 2,500 police personnel are keeping tight vigil and monitoring the movement of suspicious persons, they said.

Police are also checking the lodges in and around Tirupur to flushout any ‘anti-socials.’
