Two held for cheating a doctor of Rs. 76 lakh

Two persons, including a woman, were arrested today in Salem for cheating a doctor of Rs.76 lakh by promising a medical seat for his son in JIPMER in Puducherry.

According to police, Ravisudhan, a doctor by profession in Valandvalasu in Edappadi, lodged a complaint that he was cheated by two persons, Srinath of Peelamedu in Coimbatore and Suresh Kumar of Salem of Rs. 76 lakh assuring a medical seat for his son, who had scored 1064 out of 1,200 in 2015-16.

However, they not only failed to get a seat, but gave a fake call letter from JIPMER, which they came to know after going there, police said.

A case has been registered against Srinath, his wife Akila and Suresh Kumar. Police arrested Suresh Kumar and Akila and hunt is on for Srinath.
