Uncle held in Ooty for sexually abusing niece, mother for silence

Udhagamandalam : A 47-year-old man was arrested for sexually abusing his eight-year-old niece, while the girl's mother was held here for not complaining about the incident.

According to police, Rupeshbabu had been reportedly sexually torturing his niece over a period of time and her mother Dhanalakshi kept quiet, despite the girl complaining.

Teachers noticed her sitting silent and not concentrating in studies. Following inquiry, a complaint was lodged with the all women police station, they said.

Police arrested  Roopesh and Dhanalakshmi under POCSO Act around midnight yesterday. They were have been lodged in the Central Jail here.
