The train was immediately stopped and left after inspection ensuring that there was no damage or risk. Security was tight in and around the station, in view of state-wide rail roko by PMK over failure to constitute Cauvery Management Board. PMK workers staged a demonstration in front of Post Office.

Preliminary inquiry revealed trace of gun powder, mixture of phosphorus and sulphur made into a ball shape and kept on the track, they said. Meanwhile, some 40 PMK workers were arrested when they were proceeding to stage a rail roko at the city railway station. Business and trade was as usual in the district.
