Woman bill collector held for accepting bribe

Coimbatore: A woman bill collector attached to North Zone office of City Corporation was today caught red-handed while accepting money to show some official favour.

Based on a complaint by a person that bill collector Mala was demanding Rs 50,000 for issuing tax clearance paper, the sleuths of Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) laid a trap and asked him to give chemical-laced currency notes to her, police said.

The person handed over the money this afternoon to Mala and the sleuths hiding at a distance caught her red handed.
