Youth held, stolen property worth Rs4L recovered

Coimbatore : Police today arrested a 25-year-old youth in the city and recovered Rs 4 lakh worth property, including gold chains, he had snatched from women in various parts of the city.

According to police, Mubarak was held during a vehicle checking last night in Ramanathapuram and during interrogation he confessed to being involved in house-breaking, robbery and chain-snatching in and around the city over a period of time.

Stolen properties such as a two-wheeler, two laptops and 14 and half sovereigns of gold chains were seized, police said. Mubarak, with more than 20 cases against him, was produced before a court and remanded in custody and lodged in the central jail.
