Youth washed away in Cauvery

Thanjavur: A 20-year-old youth was washed away in Cauvery river in Thanjavur.

A highly decomposed body of an unidentified person was found near the Pudhu river (GA Canal) at the Kothuvachavadi platform last night. The Thanjavur taluk police retrieved the body and conducted investigation.

The deceased was identified as Jawahar (20), son of Kumaran and resident of Karunavathi Nagar, Nanjikottai road, Thanjavur. It was also found out that Jawahar was bathing in the river in his area on October 10 when he was washed away.

Police registered a case and sent his body to Thanjavur Medical College Hospital for postmortem.
