VJ Chitra’s husband held for abetment of suicide

VJ Chitra’s husband Hemnath was yesterday arrested by the Nazrethpet police in connection with the television actress’s demise and was booked for abetment of suicide.

The actress was found dead on December 9 and was reported to have hung herself in her hotel room, upon returning from a shoot. Chitra had married her husband in a civil ceremony two months back while an official one was said to take place in early 2021.

Chitra was famous for her role of Mullai in the hit serial Pandian Stores. She was just 28 when she passed away. An RDO will investigate her death as it is the case with women who have been married for under seven years and are reported to have died in mysterious/suspicious circumstances.
