Hiring activities at India Inc. continued an upswing after July 2018. August 2018 reported an overall 4% growth on month-on-month analysis of recruitment activities. RecruiteX – a monthly report on hiring trends by TimesJobs – recorded an overall 33% growth in hiring movements from August 2017 to August 2018 year-on-year comparison.
August 2018 was full of surprises for India Inc. as Consumer Durables became top most sector for hiring. Incidentally, Consumer Durables saw subdued growth for last three months, and suddenly posted jobs in big number in August 2018, thereby topping the sector-wise tally. The Consumer Durables sector saw a year-on-year growth of 27% from August 2017 to August 2018, thus indicating significant job creation over the year. 

BFSI and BPO sectors grabbed the second and third position on this tally at TimesJobs RecruiteX for August 2018. Healthcare, IT/Telecom, Retail and Automobiles were other prominent sectors, generating jobs at India Inc. during the review period. 

Talent demand for Sales/Business Development professionals increased by 8% as compared to July 2018, recording an overall 18% growth during the month. The demand for Customer Services/Tele-Calling professionals maintained its third position from July 2018 among the top hiring profiles.

Among key locations, Delhi-NCR (10%) and Bengaluru (5%) witnessed maximum talent demand. Pune too matched up with Bengaluru, posting a 5% hiring demand. In August 2018, job creation in Jaipur was up by 4% as compared to July 2018.
The hiring sentiments gained momentum for freshers, posting a demand of 15% during the month. Professionals with experience of 10-20 years were also in demand. 
“The market is pretty much positive and consistent, and on the growth trajectory. Consumer Durables sector hired in record numbers in August 2018, and that is mostly owing to the upcoming festival season. Consumer Durables companies tend to ramp up their manpower to cater to increased consumer demands in festival period. All this, of course spells good news for the recruitment industry and India Inc. at large,” said Ramathreya Krishnamurthi, Business Head, TimesJobs and TechGig.

  • Consumer Durables/FMCG registered 13% rise in hiring
  • BFSI sector saw a 9% rise in talent demand
  • Call Centres/BPO/ITeS recorded a 7% growth in hiring
Most hiring job roles:
  • Sales/Business Development professionals reported an overall 18% rise in demand
  • Marketing & Advertising profiles saw a 12% rise in demand
  • Customer services/Tele-Calling professionals witnessed a 9% rise in demand
Most hiring cities:
  • Among the top ten locations, Delhi-NCR reported a 10% rise in demand
  • Bengaluru posted 5% rise in talent demand
  • Jaipur saw a 4% rise in talent demand, during the month
